Riding the Bus Dream

Riding the Bus Dream

By Doctor Pessimist

A disclaimer: This dream isn’t ripping off a certain 80's slasher flick.

When I was in high school, I used to have this recurring nightmare. It starts off like a typical Monday morning: I leave my house and reluctantly board the school bus. I sit myself at the back of the bus – putting up with the deadheads, and the hooting of the imbeciles.
However, in my nightmare, the bus driver would pass the school.
The idiots would at first cheer, but I, of course, notice something is wrong.
I look out the window, and I notice the colour draining from the world.
Soon, the bus comes to a halt and the bus driver screams.
The doors open – a mysterious figure steps on.
The figure zaps the bus driver – causing him to cry uncontrollably.
When the figure gets closer, he comes into focus; it’s my future self, Doctor Pessimist.
However, this doppelganger, calling him Doctor Pessimist, is depressing the students while he makes his way towards me. When he does reach me, he hits me with a weird energy beam. The doppelganger disappears – I look at my reflection, and see I have become Doctor Pessimist. And yet, I smile after seeing my enemies suffer.
After this nightmare, I’d wake up in a cold sweat.
This is one nightmare my parents never found out about. In fact, the only person I have told in my life is Manic Minion. And he sees it as some kind of premonition for my mutation.
The person who I used to be is long gone, and Doctor Pessimist shall forever live on.
