Dream Change

Dream Change

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears; I see I am in a car showroom.

I do not recall leaving my house. It’s all fuzzy.

I see I’m wearing overalls; I am here to do a job.

With no other choice, I mop the showroom.

Soon after, I head to the cleaning cupboard.

I enter the cleaning cupboard, and it changes.

I leave the cupboard; I’m in a high school now.

I head to the toilets to understand my situation.

I hear a woman tell me I really need to wake up.

My alarm goes off, and I soon leave this dream.

Used Goods

Used Goods

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears, and I am now in a charity shop.

I don't remember volunteering here today.

I’m standing in the back. There are rubbish bags.

My boss comes in and tells me what to do.

I have to sort through these black bags. Simple.

So any donations must go into the large cage.

I open some bags and only find some rubbish.

I put the rubbish bags in the large waste bin.

The smell reaches me, so I put on a small mask.

Fortunately, my alarm goes off and wakes me up.

The Flooded Clinical

The Flooded Clinical

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears, and I'm in a medical facility.

I don't remember attending this clinical.

Also, I see I'm wearing grey overalls again.

I hear what sounds like a hissing noise.

Carefully, I search for the source of the noise.

I discovered a leaking tap in a doctor's room.

The pipe bursts, and water floods the clinic.

Sadly, nothing I do prevents further flooding.

So I go to turn off the building’s water supply.

Fortunately, I turned off the water in the clinic.

My alarm goes off, and I leave this dream.

The New Recruits

The New Recruits

By Craig Wilson

The smoke has cleared, and I am in a small charity shop.

As per usual, I do not remember going to the charity shop.

My manager informs me I am scheduled to work today.

I shrug it off. I soon start cleaning the store; which I often do.

Yet, I see some random people who I do not recognise at all.

I see a Gothic woman, in her early twenties, working hard.

There's a young Asian guy working the register. He waves.

I go through my daily routine of serving and cleaning.

The phone rings, and I quickly leave the charity dream.

The Shadowy Figure

The Shadowy Figure

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears. I am in a classroom.

I do not recall going back to school.

I realise I am in an English Lit room.

My teacher says I must write a story.

I shrug. So, I get writing my spooky story.

I write about a mysterious shadowy figure.

A woman keeps seeing this odd shadow.

No one believes her sordid tale, though.

She investigates the shadow by herself.

However, the shadow absorbs this woman.

I shock the teacher with a really sad ending.

The bell rings, and I soon leave the dream.

Work Obsession

Work Obsession

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears. I see I’m in an office building.

Strangely, I do not recall why I am in this place

I see I'm dressed like a maintenance worker.

I shrug. I set out to fix anything that was broken.

However, it is difficult for me to do my job right now.

A woman continues to follow me; she is obsessed.

This woman clearly cares deeply about me, though.

She will not accept “no” as an answer. I try to avoid her.

My phone rings, and I am pulled out of the dream.

Sweet Duet

Sweet Duet

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears; I appear in a Jazz Café.

I do not recall going to this Jazz Café at all.

A friend of mine reminds me I work here.

My friend speaks the truth; I do work here.

Thus, my friend and I go back to work.

The manager tells my friend and me to sing.

My friend and I do a little duet together.

The crowd is excited to see us both sing.

I see my robot friend is watching us sing.

Sadly, my friend gets a pretty bad virus.

The phone goes off, and I soon wake up.

Kid Visit

Kid Visit

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears. I see I am at work.

Yet, this isn’t my workplace, though.

My boss lady calmly approaches me.

She says there are kids coming here.

The kids are on a field trip today.

So, I have to warn the staff members.

The staff members know to behave.

Yet, I feel like doing some mischief.

I put on a wolf mask and some gloves.

However, a real werewolf scares me.

I run out of the building, screaming.

The kids look at me, confused, though.

My alarm goes off, and I soon wake up.

Vanishing Act

Vanishing Act

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears. I see I am in an assembly hall.

Funnily enough, I do not remember coming here.

There are loads of students sitting in their seats.

I am reminded that I am here to do some magic.

I see I am dressed as a magician. I simply shrug.

I do some basic magic tricks. I hear some yawns.

I don't impress the kids; they heckle me instead.

Angry, I decide to make all the bad kids vanish.

I somehow replace the kids with these toy penguins.

My phone’s alarm goes off, and I soon wake up.

Homework Hurry

Homework Hurry

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears. I see that I’m on my bus.

However, I can't recall why I’m on a bus.

I check some notes. I am needed at college today.

I did not do my homework. This causes me to panic.

I quickly gain a head start on my assignment.

Thankfully, I get at least three-quarters done.

The bus also takes me directly to my college.

I leave the bus. I enter the college campus cafeteria.

I also finish the rest of my homework. I exhale.

When I head upstairs, the dream suddenly ends.

Schedule Rewind

Schedule Rewind

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears. I see I am back at school.

Strangely, the school's design is different.

I see an old friend. Yet, something is wrong.

Neither of us knows what our new schedule is.

Thus, we must proceed to the main office area.

We would like a new copy of the schedule sheet.

I check the schedule. Something seems off.

So, I am not supposed to be at school today.

As a result, I rewind time and return home.

I decide to sleep in and have a full rest.

My alarm clock goes off, and I wake up.

Restoring Her Courage

Restoring Her Courage

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears. I see I'm in a café.

I don't recall ever going to this place.

In fact, I am wearing the same uniform.

I'm reminded that I work in this cosy place.

It’s a café where you can sing on the stage.

I encourage one of my coworkers to sing.

My coworker is unsure. She appears nervous.

I remind my coworker that she's a fine singer.

Finally, my coworker does, and she's wonderful.

The audience claps wildly, and as for encores.

My alarm goes off, and I quickly wake up.

The Noble Legend

The Noble Legend

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears. I see I am back in school.

I see that I'm a younger version of myself.

I'm in a classroom full of strangers.

My teacher reminds us what we are doing.

We are each working on our own assignments.

I have to look into a bizarre urban legend.

The legend includes the occult and nobles.

A noblewoman conducted a dark séance.

The members of the household vanished.

The authorities claim they got kidnapped.

The only witness was a terrified young girl.

My phone's alarm goes off, waking me up.

Cleaning Frenzy

Cleaning Frenzy

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears. I find myself outside.

I don’t recall leaving the house, though.

I’m wearing some snazzy grey overalls.

A woman appears with cleaning equipment.

The woman hands over the cleaning stuff.

It seems I have to do some scrubbing work.

So, I get to work, but kind of go overboard.

I wind up cleaning the streets all over town.

The roads and the pathways sparkle.

I somehow have the energy to clean it all.

Naturally, my boss tells me I can stop.

My phone’s alarm goes off, and I wake up.

Corn Picking

Corn Picking

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears, and I realize I am on a farm.

I don't remember going to a tiny farm, though.

Some random farmer carefully approaches me.

This farmer lady reminds me I am a volunteer.

I am given a straw basket. I have to pick corn.

I shrug. I wear my big basket and pick corn.

I feel warm. The cornfield feels like a maze.

I stick with it. I drop the corn cobs into my basket.

I can see a counter for my corn, just like in a game.

My phone alarm goes off. I quickly awake.

The Big Office Clean

The Big Office Clean

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears. I see I'm in an office space.

The door opens. I see an old school friend.

My friend says we should clean the office.

Yet, I don't remember signing up for this job.

I dare not argue. I decide to help clean up.

I turn on the radio to motivate us both.

The radio plays music from the eighties.

I soon vacuum the blue office carpets.

I see my friend wiping down the surfaces.

We empty the bins throughout our sections.

My phone alarm abruptly wakes me up.

The Filthy Building

The Filthy Building

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears, and I appear in a flat building.

I don't remember going inside this building.

My friend appears. He offers me a handshake.

I look around and ask my friend why I am here.

My friend says we need to do some cleaning.

Sadly, the building is quite filthy. It is horrible.

We get started. We need to wipe down the walls.

We clean the floor. We also clean the stairwell.

I'm not sure if I'm getting paid. I hope I am.

My phone's alarm goes off, waking me up.

The Poem's Deadline

The Poem's Deadline

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears. I find myself in my bedroom.

It is not unusual. I usually work from my room.

I received a phone call. It turns out that it's a friend.

My friend reminds me that my poem is due soon.

I am in a panic. I hung up. I set up my table and laptop.

I get cracking. I need to finish this poem immediately.

I suffer from severe writer's block. I write anything.

I proofread the poem. I email it. I slump into my chair.

My phone's alarm goes off, and I leave this dream.

The Mad Rush

The Mad Rush

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears, and I realise I’m in a local shop.

I see that I’m in a charity shop. I don’t recall why.

I'm told that I need to volunteer as soon as possible.

So I put on my tag and get cracking. I nod my head.

However, I see we’re having a hectic day. I gulp hard.

Thus, I need to tidy up the many clothes rails often.

I need to serve the customers with a big, fake smile.

Packing the clothes into the bags is exhausting.

My alarm goes off, and I quickly wake up.

D-Vision Presentation

D-Vision Presentation

By Craig Wilson

The smoke clears, and I realise I am in a lecture hall.

There are several students sitting in their seats.

I freeze up. I don't realise what I am doing here.

Someone reminds me I need to do my presentation.

I do not recall a presentation. I simply go with the flow.

Thus, I go to the computer and begin the presentation.

I end up talking with people about the D-Vision project.

Many of the students seem impressed. They take notes.

My phone goes off, and I am thrown out of the dream.
